A new analysis finds that Southwestern Connecticut is one of the best places in the nation for people who work as fitness trainers.
According to the data analysis company ValuePenguin, which reviewed more than 300 metropolitan statistical areas around the country, Fairfield County is in the top 10 for best places for fitness trainers.
Why? Well, the analysis drew from three different data points: What fitness trainers can earn in the city; How affordable it is to live in the city; A location quotient (the meeting point between salary and cost of living) for the city.
“Bridgeport had a high location quotient and, yes, a high gross number of jobs,” ValuePenguin Co-Founder Brian Quinn told us in an email last week. “Basically it means that there is higher demand for personal trainers in the area than there is in the vast majority of other U.S. cities.”
Average salary for fitness trainers here in Fairfield County figures out to $45,190 per year, and there are 1,590 jobs in the field, according to the data, which ValuePenguin pulled from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“In regards to trainers in your area, I think they’d be happy to know that they’ve got it pretty good,” Quinn continued. “Cost of living is a bit higher than other cities, but it’s more than offset with the higher wages they’re receiving. The strong demand also means there are plenty of clients for them to work with.”
